My freshman year, I wanted to break out of my comfort zone and try something new. I applied to the Indiana Daily Student, the student-run newspaper on campus, and became the youngest employee there throughout the duration of my freshman year.
Working on the social media desk as the TikTok Producer, I collaborated with my editor and coworkers to bring the IDS to new media. Previously, the IDS on TikTok featured the daily life of a news editor. I wanted to switch the narrative so the content reflected the values of the IDS and student activity on campus.
The skills I learned whilst in this position are ones that have and will set me up for success in the future.
